Education is critical to the successful insertion of emerging technologies. Without a means of measuring and controlling the technology, it can not be manufactured. While the initial concepts of emerging technology development can come from anyone with a good idea, the implementation usually requires specialized equipment and a strong understanding of the technologies. Once the concepts are f ormalized, there is a need for people to work with the technology. These people require the ability to understand what they are doing, some of the theory behind the developments, and training in operational techniques. In other words, these people need an education regarding their efforts. With the need for skilled people as a technology grows and becomes part of every day life, the skilled [educated] people are critical to the success of new technologies being commercialized.
